The Advisory Board of the Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA), met Wednesday, the 18th, at 1 PM. GATRA oversees operations of fixed-route bus services in the cities of Attleboro and Taunton, and the towns of Bellingham, Berkley, Carver, Dighton, Duxbury, Foxborough, Franklin, Hanover, Kingston, Lakeville, Mansfield, Marshfield, Medway, Middleborough, Norfolk, North Attleboro, Norton, Pembroke, Plainville, Plymouth, Plympton, Raynham, Rehoboth, Scituate, Seekonk, Wareham, and Wrentham. All 29 member communities have demand response (Dial-A-Ride) services for people with disabilities and seniors.
Franklin representative, Cobi Frongillo, shared the Administrator's report, which included a mention of an in-progress audit.
But the big news was on the operations front:
GATRA has been working closely with National Express to ensure the smoothest possible transition of fixed route and demand response services in the GATRA’s communities. The transfer will take place on 1/30/23 to coincide with the start of the workweek. GATRA is continuing to work with Bloom to ensure the transition of that part of the property back to GATRA. This new space will allow for more indoor storage space, expanded space for future electrical buildout and will double our maintenance capacity. To coincide with the Operator switch, GATRA has selected Spare to consolidate all Micro Transit Dispatch Software and Demand Response dispatching.
GATRA has also had some other significant recent news, namely:
> As of January 30th, GATRA GO Connect will become part of the GATRA GO United service. Riders will need to download the new GATRA GO app and register a new account in order to book trips. Wheaton Students need to register differently. Contact Wheaton for more information. Riders can also call 800-698-7676 to book a trip through dispatch. Rides can be booked now for travel after January 30th.
