Carnival, Blues, and Fireworks!

The fun continues on Franklin Common with local food booths and the carnival rides and midway from noon to 10 pm. The free Franklin Blues Festival runs from noon to 9:45 pm. And the fireworks, at Franklin High School on Oak Street, start at 10 pm.

If you miss `em Medway has an Extravaganza on July 19

Medway, Massachusetts will be holding its Pride of Medway Day and Celebrate Medway Day on Saturday, July 19, 2025, which will include a spectacular fireworks show, according to a Facebook post from the Town of Medway. The event will feature free activities for all ages and live music throughout the day.

NFIB Jobs Report: Job Openings Remain a Challenge for Main Street 

NFIB’s June jobs report found that 36% (seasonally adjusted) of small business owners reported job openings they could not fill in June, up two points from May.  Overall, 58% of small business owners reported hiring or trying to hire in June, up three points from May. Fifty percent (86% of those hiring or trying to hire) of owners reported few or no qualified applicants for the positions they were trying to fill. Twenty-five percent of owners reported few qualified applicants for their open positions and 25% reported none.

Go Home....Maybe

A surprise announcement on Thursday morning sent all non-essential Town of Franklin employees home after lunch. A nice gesture. But some couldn't go because the town's automated locking system didn't adjust to reflect the closures. So in some buildings, staff had to stay extra hours until the problem was fixed and the buildings could be secured.
