Jose Luis Perez, 84, of Franklin , passed away March 3 at the Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket after a brief illness. He was the husband of Sandra M. (Saster) Perez for the past 47 years.

Born in Yabucoa. Puerto Rico, February 12,1942, the son of the late Juan and Josefina (Burgos) Perez , Jose had lived in Franklin for many years.

Jose had been a caretaker at the Wrentham Developmental Center for over 50 years.
He loved his work, the residents and staff.

Jose loved cooking, that was his passion. A tireless worker, he loved working around the yard, his flowers, the pool, his work shop where he spent many hours and gardening.

He loved the Patriots and the Red Sox and was very much a family man.
In March , 2020, he was able to reconnect with his family in Puerto Rico after being separated for over 60 years. He looked forward to going there this Summer to spend time with them.
Jose always looked forward to family gatherings and cookouts.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Eric Forrest and his wife Kelli and his daughter Cynthia Forrest of Franklin.

He is also survived by his sisters, Lucy Perez, Chila Figuerora and Nilza Marte of Puerto Rico.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Laura Shaw, Ashely Donnelly, Eric Forrest, Jr. and his wife Siiri, Dawna Forrest and her significant other, Peter Santiago, Chris Forrest and his significant other Rebecca Boucher, Courtney Forrest and her significant other, Gavin Williams and Nicholas Forrest.

His great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Teagan and Chris, Jr. Magnolia and Deliah. And many nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law Joyce Bardol and her husband Bill of Wrentham, and Marena Papp of Franklin.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7 in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be private.

Calling hours will be on Friday, March 6 from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Franklin Food Pantry,341 West Central Street, Franklin, MA 02038.
