Mr. Laurence G. Shaughnessy, 91, of Franklin MA died Friday morning (March 13, 2026) at Benchmark Senior Living @ Forge Hill in Franklin MA after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Cecelia A. (Gelinas) Shaughnessy.
Laurence was born in Lowell MA, the son of the late John J. Shaughnessy and the late Grace W. (Burns) Shaughnessy. He attended St. Margaret’s parochial school in Lowell MA until 1948. He then was a graduate of Keith Academy in 1952, and was recognized as a distinguished graduate by the National Catholic Education Association in 2014.
Laurence was first employed as a young man at Courier Press, located in Lowell MA. He then owned & operated his own printing business, American Speedy Printing, located in Portsmouth NH, which later became Allegra Marketing Print Mail, located in Portsmouth NH and Bedford NH.
Laurence was a longtime member of the Portsmouth NH Rotary Club. Most recently he was a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish in Hopedale MA. He was an avid golfer and bird watcher. He also loved to travel.
Along with his beloved wife of 38 years, he is survived by his 4 children: Michael F. Chaisson and his wife Susan of Milford MA, Stephen H. Chaisson and his wife Anna of Manchester NH, Mary L. Chaisson and her husband Francis Riley of Port St. Lucie FL and Cary J. Chaisson and his wife Doreen of Raymond NH; his 10 grandchildren: Christopher Chaisson, Nicole Moon, Mark Jaillet, Amanda Denham, Joseph Chaisson, Emily Marsh, Tyler Chaisson, Chase Thilleman, Allyson Chaisson and Sophie Chaisson; also 10 great grandchildren; his brother: Paul Shaughnessy of Nashua NH; his son-in-law: Richard Jaillet of Reno NV; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Laurence was the father of the late Elaine Jaillet and the late Darryl Chaisson; and the brother of the late John Shaughnessy; the late Robert Shaughnessy; the late Mary Carole (Shaughnessy) Pender, RN and the late David Shaughnessy.
In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. A funeral will be held from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale MA on a DAY & TIME TO BE ANNOUNCED. A visiting hour will be held at the Edwards Memorial Funeral, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA prior to his Funeral Mass. Burial of his cremains will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery in Hopedale MA.
