Doris Hazel (Ribero) Simmons of Quincy passed away on March 2nd surrounded by her family.
Born in Milford to the late Irvin and Hazel (Foster) Ribero, she was raised in Franklin. She was a graduate of Franklin High School and Dean Junior College. In 1951 she married Gordon Simmons of Franklin, and they raised two daughters in North Attleboro. Doris was devoted to her family, involved in all her daughters’ activities and later those of her two granddaughters.
Doris was also active in her community. For many years she served as a Girl Scout leader and counselor at Camp Shady Pines in North Attleboro. She also worked as a substitute teacher at elementary schools in the town. After moving to Quincy, she was active in the First Church of Squantum and the Squantum Garden Club.
Doris leaves her daughters Karen Flowers and her husband David of East Sandwich and Wendy Simmons and her spouse Patti Plourde of Quincy, granddaughters LilliAnn Plourde of Greenfield and Abby Rose Plourde of Weymouth and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, her sisters Priscilla Neal and Nancy Thornton and her brother Robert Ribero.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Church of Squantum, 164 Bellevue Avenue, Quincy MA 02171.
