MEDWAY: Nancy McCarthy

Nancy McCarthy (73), of Medway, Massachusetts, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, after a courageous battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). Diagnosed in 2021, Nancy faced her illness with remarkable strength, grace, and determination, supported by the exceptional care team at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Milford. While her family will miss her endlessly, they find comfort in knowing she was at peace, secure in her faith, and looking forward to being reunited with loved ones in Heaven.

Nancy was a woman whose life was defined by love. She never missed an opportunity to tell anyone willing to listen how proud she was of her children and grandchildren. To Nancy, her family was not simply important, they were her greatest joy, her purpose, and her proudest accomplishment. Her faith was a source of strength throughout her life, particularly during her battle with MDS, and it gave her comfort, hope, and peace.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert “Mac” McCarthy, whom she was married to for 17 years. Though Mac passed away in 2010, Nancy carried his memory with her every day and looked forward to the day they would be reunited.

Nancy wore many hats throughout her life. She worked as a cake decorator, cook, corrections officer, owner of the Angel Hut gift shop, and kitchen manager at the Medway Senior Center where she also became a beloved art instructor who shared her talents and passion with members of the community. An exceptionally gifted artist, she created hundreds of paintings, decorated beautiful cakes, and found joy in making ordinary things extraordinary. Her creativity was one of her greatest gifts, and it lives on through her children and grandchildren, many of whom inherited her artistic talents and appreciation for beauty.

Christmas was Nancy's favorite time of year. She delighted in the traditions, decorations, gatherings, and simple joy of being together with family. She had a remarkable ability to make everyday moments feel special. In good times and in bad, her children never felt they went without because she filled their lives with love, encouragement, creativity, laughter, and lasting memories.

Daughter of William and Mildred LeBlanc, both of whom predeceased her, Nancy's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Davis and her husband, Derek Davis, and their children, Tyler Davis (27) and Amber Davis (24); her son, Craig Will and his longtime partner, Jill Reslock, and their children, Hannah Will (24), Justin Will (20), Ayden Reslock (23), and Jake Reslock (18); and her daughter, Jessica Carberry and her husband, Rich Carberry, and their boys, Mason Carberry (8) and Leo Carberry (5). She is also survived by her loving sister, Darlene Lamont and her husband, Dick Lamont, along with many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her.

Of all the things Nancy loved, nothing compared to her daily conversations with her children. No matter what was happening in life, she made time to call, check in, share a laugh, offer encouragement, or celebrate someone's latest accomplishment. Her family will miss hearing her voice every day, her constant support, her sense of humor, and the way she made each of them feel like the most important person in the world.

Nancy's legacy is one of creativity, kindness, strength, and unconditional love. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is finally at peace, reunited with her beloved Mac, and undoubtedly telling everyone in Heaven about her children and grandchildren while enjoying an endless supply of ice cream. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered always.

Family and friends are invited to attend services for Nancy on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Valley Chapel, 14 Hunter Road, Uxbridge, MA 01569. Following the service, a graveside burial of her ashes will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, 8 Evergreen Street, Medway, MA.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Franklin Elks Lodge, 1077 Pond Street, Franklin, MA. In honor of Nancy's incredible artistic talent and generous spirit, guests are encouraged to bring a piece of artwork that Nancy created for them. These cherished pieces will be displayed as a special tribute to her creativity and the lasting impact her art had on the lives of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Nancy's memory to support the Jimmy Fund Walk for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through her daughter Jessie's fundraising page. This cause holds deep meaning for the family, as Dana-Farber provided Nancy with compassionate care during her weekly treatments over the last five years.

This year marks Jessie's seventh Jimmy Fund Walk, a tradition that began as a tribute to Nancy's late husband and Jessie’s stepdad, Mac. Moving forward, her walk will honor both Mac and Nancy, as well as all those whose lives have been impacted by cancer. This year, Jessie has chosen to walk the full 26.2-mile Boston Marathon route from Hopkinton to Boston. While the journey will not be easy, she takes comfort in knowing that her mother's strength, love, and encouragement will be with her every step of the way.
