PhysicianOne Urgent Care (P1UC) is opening their new center in Franklin on Wednesday, June 29. Located at 648 Old West Central St., across from Franklin Village Plaza, the Franklin center is PhysicianOne’s 24th
location, and fifth in Massachusetts, expanding its reach to the southeastern region of the state.
“We are excited to offer a convenient option for high-quality, affordable care to the residents of Franklin and surrounding towns,” said Lynne Rosen, CEO of PhysicianOne Urgent Care. “We look forward to joining this vibrant community and helping them stay healthy.”

In showing off the new facility Tuesday, Rosen noted that PhysicianOne Urgent Care is “on-demand and coordinated care.”

“What I say is that if you have an emergency, call 911. But otherwise, you can pretty much go to PhysicianOne for, non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries; and it is for all ages, we can see babies through seniors, so it's health care for the whole entire family.”

Rosen said her organization is trying to fill the gaps in the care system and keep people out of the emergency room, which can be slow, expensive, and frustrating. She noted that up to one-third of people don’t have a regular primary care physician, “so we aim to fill in the gaps in terms of access to care, between primary care and the ER.”

PhysicianOne Urgent Care says that “it goes beyond the traditional urgent care model” to help patients navigate even complicated health care issues. According to a press release, it is the only provider in Massachusetts to offer locally staffed 24/7 telehealth, enabling patients to speak with an experienced medical provider at any time and visit a center if needed as well. PhysicianOne Urgent Care helps patients access and coordinate care beyond their visit by communicating with their primary care physician and assisting with coordinating specialist care when needed.

“Busy individuals and families need easy options when it comes to their health care, and we are proud to be that resource to residents of Franklin and the surrounding areas,” said Dr. Jeannie Kenkare, founder and chief medical officer of PhysicianOne Urgent Care. “This new center will allow patients to take care of their health care concerns on their schedule, while avoiding the expense and long wait of an emergency room visit for urgent non-life-threatening conditions.”

Franklyne Paul, the on-site manager, said she is looking forward to getting to know the people of the community.

The Franklin location will be open 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Patients can walk-in or reserve an in-person or virtual telehealth appointment online. PhysicianOne Urgent Care in Franklin accepts most major insurances, including MassHealth, and offers affordable self-pay rates for patients without insurance.
