Children’s Museum of Franklin has  announced that the ribbon cutting of its first permanent location will take place at 157 Cottage Street, Franklin, on Wednesday, September 17

The event will celebrate the culmination of two years of vision, collaboration, and community support, officially opening the doors of a museum designed to empower children and families to discover, imagine, and grow together through play and exploration.

According to the museum press release, the organization was founded in 2023 by local moms Erin Gallagher and Meg Hagen, based on a simple, but powerful dream: to create a community-centered space where children from across the region could learn, connect, and thrive through play. With the expertise of a dedicated community of advisors and the generosity of countless individuals and organizations, that dream is now a reality.

“Our goal has always been to create a place where every child feels welcome, every family finds joy and where everybody feels included,” said co-founder Erin Gallagher.

The museum is intentionally built to be inclusive and accessible, welcoming families of all backgrounds, financial circumstances, and abilities.

The journey to opening day was powered by the support of donors, community members and Mobile Museum visitors from across the region, the design vision of KuthRanieri Architects, and especially the extraordinary partnership with Camford Property Group, whose commitment helped bring this dream to life.

“We’re endlessly grateful to every individual and organization who has contributed their time, talents, and resources,” added co-founder Meg Hagen. “This museum is built for the community, by the community.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place  from 4:00–5:00 pm at the new museum location. Families, partners, and supporters are invited to join in the celebration. The doors will open to the public full-time beginning September 18 at 9:00 am.
