Dorothea Catherine (Clark) Thibodeau, 89, of Franklin, Massachusetts, passed away April 21st at Boston Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Lionel Roland Thibodeau, who died in May 2020.

Dorothea was born in Boston on January 29, 1937, the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Carr) Clark. Dottie was raised in Dorchester and had lived in Franklin since 1978. She was a person of resounding faith who attended Mass daily.

Dottie loved children and took great pride in her role as a crossing guard for the Towns of Franklin and Wellesley, Massachusetts. She spent many years working in retail at Caldor’s in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.

Earlier in her career, she was employed at John Hancock in Boston, Massachusetts, before embracing her most cherished role, that of a devoted mother, when she started a family with the love of her life.

Dottie enjoyed traveling, cruises, ballroom dancing, playing bingo, warm weather, Irish music, and, in recent years, visiting Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren in Colorado, traversing numerous National Parks, and still actively engaging with her youngest Great-grandchildren at their school’s holiday festivities.

She is survived by her children, Roland Thibodeau and his wife, Gina, of Blackstone; Richard Thibodeau of Franklin; Paul Thibodeau and his wife, Heather, of Newmarket, New Hampshire; Stephen Thibodeau and his wife, Veronica, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island; and Denise Wetherell and her husband, Andrew, of Franklin.
She was the devoted and loving Grandmother of Ashley (Bryan) Hinmon, Gary (Stephanie) Prentice, Eric (Aline) Thibodeau, Cullen Wetherell, Sarah Thibodeau, Hayden (Shea) Thibodeau, Kasie Wetherell, Megan Thibodeau, and Emily Thibodeau.
Her great- grandchildren brought great joy to her later years, and they will miss their Nanny, particularly Connor Prentice, Kara Prentice, Myles Hinmon, Christopher Thibodeau, Camina Prentice, and Eli Hinmon.

Dottie is also survived by her sister, Anna Anderson, and her husband, Richard, of Wrentham, Massachusetts, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family was everything to Dottie, and sadly, she was pre-deceased by siblings Helen Elliot, Mary Dellamano, and Arthur Clark.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 29, at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin, Massachusetts, at 10:00 am.

Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts, at 12:30 p.m.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 28, from 4-7 pm at the Ginley Funeral Home in Franklin, Massachusetts (ginleyfuneralhomes.com), 131 Main Street.

Due to floral limitations at the National Cemetery, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
