Gerald George Sheppard, 89, of Plainville, formerly of Medway, died peacefully Saturday, April 25 at his home in the comfort of his beloved family. He was the husband of Delores (McNeil) Sheppard for the past 67 years.
Born in Glace’ Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada, November 23, 1936, the son of the late James and Josita (Boudreau) Sheppard, Gerry was raised in Canada and had come to America in 1958, first living in Jamaica Plain before moving to Medway where he lived for 31 years before moving to Plainville 27 years ago.
Gerry had been an electronics technician for the Sears Company for 19 years before retiring.
Gerry enjoyed playing golf and being in the company of his family.
He was a proud veteran of the Canadian Air Force.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Gerald Sheppard and his wife Janice of Spofford, New Hampshire, James Sheppard of Plainville, William Sheppard of East Bridgewater, and Cathy Converse and her husband Thomas of Plainville.
He was the father of the late Joseph Sheppard and father-in-law of the late Sherrie Sheppard.
He is also survived by his siblings, Sharon Ledger and her husband Joseph, Barbara Patterson of Halifax, Robert Sheppard, and his wife Gail, and George Sheppard and his wife Roberta, of Glace’ Bay, Nova Scotia.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Krystine DeGrosso, Stacie Converse, Andrew Sheppard, Amanda Lema, Jenna Wilson, Amber Sheppard, Sarah Sheppard, and Hannah Sheppard and his great-grandchildren, Joshua, Liam, Tommy, Henry, Harper, Alexi, Layla, Avery, Carter, Wesley, and Wyatt.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 30 in St. Joseph Church, Medway at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 30, from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street Medway
