Right to Repair Coalition say Auto Makers Thwarting AG and Will of Voters

In March, the Massachusetts Right to Repair Coalition thanked Attorney General Andrea Campbell for deciding to move forward, despite the lack of a decision by a federal court, with implementing the Right to Repair law passed by voters in 2020. On March 7 Campbell filed a “notice of intent to terminate non-enforcement stipulation” as of June 1, 2023 meaning that she will take action to implement the law. The Attorney General’s Office had suspended enforcement of the law pending the results of the court case, which has been repeatedly delayed for more than two years. Today, car manufacturers showed their disdain for the will of the voters and their own customers by filing a motion to stop the Attorney General from enforcing the law.“On behalf of independent repair shops and their customers, we are disappointed but not surprised that car manufacturers would try to stop a law that 75% of Massachusetts voters supported at the ballot box,” said Tommy Hickey, Director of the Massachusetts Right to Repair Coalition. “We expect that the judge will see this for what it is, a profit-driven delay tactic by automakers to force car and truck owners to go to their dealerships to pay more for repairs.”

MassFiscal Thanks State Senators Who Debated and Voted in Favor of Protecting Tax Rebate Law 62F

Boston, MA – The Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance released the following statement thanking the three Republican state senators, Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr (R-Gloucester), Senators Ryan Fattman (R-Sutton), and Patrick O’Connor (R-Weymouth) for publicly debating and voting in favor of protecting the voter approved tax cap and rebate law known as 62F. On Thursday, Senate Republicans came prepared with props and speeches showcasing the hypocrisy of Senate Democrats for wanting to circumvent the will of the voters by excluding the millionaires tax revenue from 62F tax revenue calculations. Their worthwhile speeches made the point and even got two Democratic senators, Walter Timilty (D-Milton) and Barry Finegold (D-Andover) to support their effort.
